Now there's no point in me lying here; I know literally nothing about razors - I buy the cheapest (usually mens) disposable bics, consistently forget to replace them when I should do and usually do a piss poor job of shaving if I'm honest. So, when Friction Free Shaving offered me the chance to try out their razors (they're a subscription service that sends out four new blades every month) - I jumped at the chance of getting super smooth skin.
So, a few weeks ago a Samantha razor quite literally fell through my letterbox. Now, not only is it practical - but you'll be pleased to know that it's all smooth rose gold and comfortable grip. Beyond that, the Samantha has a 5 blade head and a guard trimmer for any particularly hard to reach areas and every month 4 brand new heads will cost you a mere £7. Haven't got the £7? Nae bother, you can get the Frankie 3 blade head for £5 per month and the Faye 2 blade head for £3 per month. You can't really argue with those prices, they're definitely not going to break the bank and you undoubtedly get what you pay for.
So, I set to work trying these out and my god am I converted from crappy poundland razors. I always thought it was one of those things that were the same whether you paid £10 for them or just a quid, but that's so not true. Good old Samantha can leave me smooth like you wouldn't believe, no stubble, no roughness, but exactly like those women on the Veet advert. I would say go old school with these razors though, to make the most of them make sure that you exfoliate first, use foam, moisturise afterwards. I've found that actually following all those tips that are always in Cosmo works out for me - who knew!
This is one of my favourite subscription boxes at the moment - not particularly because I find razors embarrassing to buy but because they're something that I always forget to buy; and they're something that aren't readily available, at least not in this very practical and yet very affordable form. In essence, I think that this is a really niche service for women, and it's one that I really appreciate - the razors aren't all pink and soap bars, but they do exactly what they should - and they do it well.
I'd say the £7 a month is more than worth it - but if you want to shave less than that (which is totally your prerogative, and also what i'd recommend when it comes to the Winter months because ain't nobody got time for that) I believe that you can change your subscription so you're only paying for 4 new blades every other month. Nice one friction free shaving, it's been a pleasure working with you and I'll definitely be keeping my subscription with you up.
